Henri-Lloyd, a British Sailing Heritage brand since 1963, founded by Henri Strzelecki MBE has established over five decades a formidable global reputation for innovative design and quality of premium sailing and lifestyle clothing.
From the early days of working from a converted chapel in Manchester, England the company has relentlessly pioneered new technologies such as, the use of the wonder material of the 1960’s Bri-Nylon, hand taping of seams for waterproof integrity and became the first to use Velcro in clothing. In recent years the company has also pioneered and won many awards for their range of Blue-Eco products which are made from recycled and recyclable fabrics.
The early pioneers and adventurers of global circumnavigation such as Sir Francis Chichester, Sir Robin Knox-Johnson and Sir Ranulph Fiennes were all adopters of Henri-Lloyd’s revolutionary gear. Today it is the choice of modern champions such as three times Olympic Gold Medallist Ben Ainslie CBE, Americas’s Cup yacht crews, as well as Formula One Team MERCEDES GP PETRONAS whilst at the same time it has become a favourite amongst many current music, sports and media personalities.
Henri-Lloyd’s reputation as a premium lifestyle brand was born in the 1980’s when the über cool Milanese youth movement known as the
“Paninari” adopted the Henri-Lloyd Consort jacket as part of their uniform. A collaboration with inspirational Italian designer Olmes
Carretti followed and so Henri Lloyd’s reputation and credentials in the world of fashion was established. This continues today with the
launch of HL Jeans the younger more extrovert sibling of Henri-Lloyd including the recent introduction of HLMusic, a collaboration with PRS for Music to pioneer new musical talent.
