Gio-Goi was founded in the 1980’s by Manchester based brothers Anthony and Christopher Donnelly. Heavily inspired by the ‘Madchester’ scene they created clothing and in particular a range of t-shirts that took influence from the Manchester party scene and the Hacienda nightclub which had become so popular and influential in the city and The Stone Roses ensuring the crossover from dance music into the indie scene.
After a lengthy legal battle with Italian designer Giorgio Armani over the name ‘Gio’ the brothers closed down production, however they re-launched the company in 2005 after being approached by venture capitalists. They quickly established a cult following with several urban celebrities wearing their products including Pete Doherty, The Arctic Monkeys and the electro DJ Deadmau5.
Many of the t-shirts feature slogans that encapsulate the ethos of the rave and drug scene and continue to prove highly popular season upon season. Here at the Menswear Site we stock a large range of Gio-Goi menswear which includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, knitwear and jackets.
